What is the width & thickness of a 13ft scaffold board?

The thickness is 36-38mm, and the width of a dry 13ft length is 225mm. But give or take a few millimetres if the timber is damp, as it will hold moisture and may expand.

What is the weight of a 13ft scaffolding board?

A 13ft board typically weighs approximately 18kg to 20kg.

What is the maximum length of a scaffolding board?

The maximum length of this type of timber is 13ft or 3.9m.

How much weight can a banded scaffold plank hold?

Each plank has a support span of 1.2m and can take a maximum weight of 75 lbs (34kg) per square foot.

Reclaimed vs New?

A reclaimed board is one which comes from stock used in actual scaffolding. Great for extra character and therefore tends to be what people are looking for when they're after that classic, rustic look. Newer boards are more uniform, clean, and therefore more sought after by makers, as they are suited to furniture and other similar uses.

Unsanded, sanded or special?

- Unsanded boards are the original and cheapest option, the scaffold board in its original form. Great for larger quantities, landscaping, shelving etc, where a finished board is not needed.

- Sanded boards are for those who want either a less rough board (hand sanded) or one with the bumps taken out too (machine sanded) then this may be a better option.

- Special boards are where we take the board to the next level. Here we offer options including a flame finish (where the wood is torched) or a coloured finish using specialist dyes.

How do I get a smooth finish on a scaffold board?

The best way to get a smooth plank is to use sandpaper or an electric sander to remove rough sections and splinters.

How do I stop my scaffold boards from warping?

There is not much you can do when this timber warps. You can only try to let them acclimatize before use and plain them straight as best you can if they warp.

Can I use scaffold boards for flooring?

Using this product for flooring is an excellent option as you can create a solid and secure floor with them. You can use the planks as the base for your carpet to be fitted on or alternatively as a feature floor. Once sanded, treated and waxed, your new floor will look amazing. Creating a floor with this timber is very easy. Once the base has been made, all you need to do is drill the boards down with screws.

Are scaffolding boards suitable for furniture?

This item is perfect for indoor and outdoor furniture as with the right tools; many different things can be created, for example, tabletops, shelving, bed frame, picnic tables, cupboards, and garden seating.

You can easily make a garden or dining table from this timber by cutting the boards to size to make the tabletop, then you glue them together and sanding them down to give a smooth finish, and then you can add a varnish or wax to complete. Finally, you can create the underside frame and legs using either this wood, 4 by 2 timber or a metal framework that can be drilled and secured to the tabletop.

How are they stored?

We have an outside facility where they are USUALLY stored, so they may be exposed to the weather and may arrive to you damp if it has been recently raining. The boards will retain some moisture so may expand by a few millimeters but when dry they will return to their normal size. Please bear in mind that on wet days your items may arrive wet.

How long will it take for my order to arrive?

Our lead times are generally between 1 and 4 days, but we will be able to confirm this once you have placed your order.

Do you offer a reduction in price for larger orders?

We always endeavour to offer a discount when larger orders are received. We generally reduce the price per board or offer our customers free delivery and on occasion offer both of these discounts.

How much is delivery?

- Our delivery costs differ, and each order is worked out on its own merit. We base our costs on your order size and location, the further you are from our Bradford depot and the smaller the order, the higher our delivery fees may be because scaffolding is very EXPENSIVE to transport.

- We can provide a single set delivery cost by a courier. Delivery by courier costs approx £50 per board. If you want to get a few boards then please contact us so we can adjust shipping cost by size and weight.

- Our fees can begin from £10 but can also go up to £250+.

I am not going to be there on delivery day, can you still leave my order?

We do prefer if you are present when we deliver your order, however, we do understand that you may not be able to do so. We are happy upon your request to leave items in a safe place, but we do ask you to leave clear instructions and that you are happy to take the risk of leaving your order unattended. We will not be responsible for these items once they are dropped off. We do however take a proof of delivery photo for our records.

Are scaffold boards cheaper than decking?

Scaffold boards could be a more cost-effective alternative to traditional decking materials. Types of wood traditionally used in decking are generally more expensive and often require additional finishing to be safe to walk on. However, you should know that scaffold boards may need additional work to be used as decking – especially if you want decking that looks aesthetically pleasing.

Is the scaffold board hard or soft wood?

Our Banded scaffold boards are made of premium European whitewood. They are graded and produced in accordance with specifications outlined in BS2482:2009, tried and tested with Quality Assured System. Heavy-duty structural timber has a dense structure, able to withstand the elements. More than this, our scaffold board is resistant to external damage, offering secure and sturdy footing for project workers.

How long will scaffold boards last outside?

When designing scaffold boards, one of the most important aspects to consider is making sure the boards last for a long time in outdoor environments. The average lifespan of scaffold boards will depend on several factors, including where they are placed, how often they are used, and the conditions they are exposed to. You can expect scaffold boards to last several years outdoors if properly maintained.

Are scaffold boards slippery when wet?

Like any wooden surface, scaffold boards can become slippery when wet. It’s important to always take extra preventive measures, such as using non-slip mats or coatings, especially in environments where boards are frequently exposed to rain, snow or frost.
